Afkar 3: Support initiatives of NGOs in the areas of reform, social and economic development and fighting corruption

Cost:

2,500,000 € (the cost of the first call for proposals according to the signed agreement)

Source of fund:

European Union

Scope:

The project aims to promote reform and development in the socio-economic sphere and to consolidate new approaches between government, local authorities, the private sector and civil society by supporting partnerships and networking between NGOs themselves and with other sectors.

The scope of work includes support for economic, social and educational rights. Hence, it focuses on activating an economic dynamic working in the areas of environment and consumption.

Sustainable agriculture, tourism, and technological sectors. It is also interested in increasing employment opportunities, especially in rural areas, and encouraging projects of interest to marginalized groups in the legal, economic, social and medical fields. The project leaves room for initiatives aimed at implementing the rules of good governance through sensitizing citizens on the importance of applying its principles in public administration and the participation of civil society organizations in development-related issues.

Specific Objectives:

Guidelines to be followed by non-governmental organizations during the submission of their initiatives have been drawn up in a call for proposals that will be launched after the approval of the guidelines by the donor. After submitting the applications of the associations, a committee formed in the Ministry of Administrative Development shall evaluate the applications in the presence of European observers in preparation for determining the winning associations and contracting them in the implementation of the submitted projects.

Results to be achieved:

  • Perhaps the most important conditions for the success of the initiatives lies in their content on the one hand and how to implement them on the other hand, so it is necessary for NGOs to submit projects that are of the required level and match the existing needs. It is important that the organizations take care of cooperation and networking among them according to clear principles and methods.
  • On the executive level, it is necessary to succeed in respecting the entitlements of time in terms of: launching the solicitation of proposals and the signing of contracts and the arrival of European funds to associations. It should be noted in this regard that the delay in approving the financial agreement in accordance with the required government procedures has partially withdrawn from the stage of soliciting proposals.
  • On the other hand, entrepreneurs should respect their commitment to the plans drawn from the outset and abide by the European procedures under which the project is managed.
