The Minister of State for Administrative Reform received in her office at the Ministry the Ambassador of the European Union in Lebanon, Christina Lassen, and a delegation from the mission, during which the two parties confirmed the cooperation between the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform and the European Union. Chidiac informed Ambassador Lassen about the pivotal role of the Ministry of Administrative Reform in implementing the structural reforms required at the Cedar Conference.
The parties also agreed to complete cooperation in several areas, such as the development of public administrations and the technical and administrative empowerment of the human cadre in the state apparatus. They also discussed the importance of completing the work of simplifying administrative procedures in public administrations to facilitate the life of the citizen and reduce bribery as a prerequisite for combating Corruption.
Chidiac informed Lassen about the ministry's plan to attain e-government in Lebanon, where the Union is a key partner. Chidiac has requested the European Union to continue cooperating in modernizing the law on public transactions.
The two parties also discussed the project to support local administrations to address the waste crisis and to proceed with the completion of the project after the re-identification of new areas not covered by the first project and a new management method that would make local authorities rely on their own capabilities after a specified period.
Chidiac stressed on the Ministry's efforts to endorse the National anti-corruption strategy and to seek the assignment of departmental information officers to help citizens to access local information to develop their areas in the best possible way.
