Management of household waste belonging to Mishmish municipality

Status:

All trucks and containers were delivered.

Cost:

674,701 € for construction and equipment + 273,250 USD for maintenance and operation.

Source of fund:

The European Union and the Lebanese State (Maintenance and Operation).

Scope:

The project aims to establish and equip a lab for sorting and composting waste with a capacity of 8 tons / day and the purchase and delivery of containers and mechanisms for transporting waste.

Specific Objectives:

The lab consists of two sorting and composting units, the sorting unit includes a waste reception area, a series of manual sorting lines and a grinder for organic materials.

The composting facility is a small barrel type consisting of 10 composting barrels where organic materials are fermented and also contain spaces for the treatment, maturation and screening of the compost.

An awareness campaign was also conducted for the citizen to manage the municipal solid waste and to market and sort the waste from the source. [1]

The project serves approximately 15,000 people in one municipality.

Work will start soon. The office of the Minister of State for Administrative Development will contribute to the maintenance and operation of this lab upon commencement of work.

Results to be achieved:

  • Create a sanitary landfill for exhausts
  • Launching a tender for operation and maintenance of the laboratory and effective and periodic monitoring of the commitment that operates the laboratory and the application of the technical conditions contained in the letter of the Minister No. 602 / r dated 26/11/201.
