Management of household waste belonging to the Union of Municipalities of Minieh

Status:

The construction and equipping of the factory has been completed and handed over to the Federation

EUR 1.333,850 for construction and equipment + US $ 1,669,875 for maintenance and operation

Source of fund:

The European Union and the Lebanese State (Maintenance and Operation)

Scope:

The project aims to establish a sorting, composting and processing plant with a capacity of 61 tons / day, with an awareness campaign for citizens on how to sort waste from the source.

Specific Objectives:

The lab has a space for receiving waste and areas for sorting and composting, a platform and lines for manual sorting, an organic material chopper, a mechanical waste sieve and an automatic magnet for picking metals.
The composting facility adopts the composting technique in the drums and consists of 8 composting drums where the organic materials ferment in a maximum of 5 days and the composting unit contains spaces for the treatment and maturation and composting with the necessary equipment.
The project serves 95,000 people and 5 municipalities.

Results to be achieved:

  • Create a sanitary landfill for exhausts.
  • Effective and periodic monitoring of the commitment that operates the laboratory and the application of the technical conditions contained in the letter of the Minister No. 602 / r dated 26/11/2012.
